Because BEARs love honey

If you go down to West London today,
You’re sure of a big surprise,
A lovely lady who’s charming and funny,
A large garden with hens, bees, and a shedload of honey!

The BEARs had gathered. Gathered at Hen Corner. Scratching heads, confused by the tranquil setting. Honey biscuits and coffee for breakfast? Not a normal weekday that’s for sure.

Why were we here?

Rockets & Elephants

Rockets & Elephants

A big thank you to our friends over at Rocket Van for looking after us last night, it was a summer gathering to be proud of. In case you are not aware, Rocket Van has gone from strength to strength in recent years and to celebrate its new Elephant & Castle premises, MD Julian thought it would good to crack open a few beers and throw some jerk chicken on the barbie.

The stage doesn’t have to be set

The stage doesn’t have to be set

A new trend of entertainment is evolving… and not where you’d expect.

A recent BEAR night out started (and ended) as a bit of fun, but has since left us scratching our heads questioning the conventions we (as an audience) have become accustomed to. The landscape of the entertainment industry is changing. Changing into something more creative. And we love it!

Friluftsliv: the BEARs head to the woods for a Christmas treat

Friluftsliv: the BEARs head to the woods for a Christmas treat

For this year’s BEAR get-away, we were all whisked off to Trondheim, Norway to get to grips with nature and embrace friluftsliv – no direct translation but it means ‘open air life’, and reflects the Norwegians’ love of all things outdoors. And we’ve come back as converts, still clutching our thermals and rucksacks and smelling of campfires.

A digital snapshot

A digital snapshot

Creating an online experience that is meaningful, easy-to-use and gets results can be tricky to achieve. Someone, somewhere needs to do the complex stuff to make something simple.

Add in the creative spark, visual identity and brand messaging, and it’s a mix that could get overcomplicated pretty quickly.

Great British Summer

Great British Summer

So, 2012, a fantastic summer of celebration. But for us, this time of year is always that extra bit special, it’s our birthday! I can’t believe we are 12 years old. Time flies as they say and it only seems like yesterday that we squeezed three desks into a box room in Soho. Back then, we had little idea about who we were and where we were heading.

One thing that has remained constant from the very start is the desire to get hold of a holistic brand story; it’s magnetic, and we can’t help ourselves. Sure, we like the one off projects – a website or a piece of print in isolation can be a joy – but it’s bringing an entire business to life strategically and creatively that really floats our boat.

Us and Noma Bar

Us and Noma Bar

We’re currently working on a new ad campaign with renowned illustrator Noma Bar. Such an amazing man with a distinctive style which has made great waves in the design world and beyond as he collaborates with various brands. BEAR was invited to his private view at the SCIN Gallery, near Old Street. There, Noma was kept busy performing a live light show of his work. Keep your eyes peeled around London come spring for our Foxtons campaign launch featuring Noma’s work.

On your marks, get set... Christmas party

On your marks, get set... Christmas party

Yes it’s that time of year again: BEAR’s annual Christmas party. This year’s theme was The Alternative Olympics. Everyone was given a Daley Thompson kit to don whilst partaking in a series of competitive events – amongst them track & field, hurdles, long jump, space-hopper races and not forgetting our annual cracker challenge. Needless to say memories of the evening were blurry the next morning, unfortunately the photographic evidence wasn’t.

The BEAR bake off 2011

The BEAR bake off 2011

Even our studio couldn’t help but get wrapped up in the baking craze this year. So on went the ovens, aprons were dusted down and our dreams of one day owning a KitchenAid mixer were still ever present for the 2011 BEAR Bake Off. There were iced buns, fruit loafs, garlic & rosemary rolls, seeded wholemeal loaves, parmesan and pancetta muffins – even the childhood classic rice crispy cakes were whipped up for a total baking feast.

The new BEAR cubs

The new BEAR cubs

We’re thrilled to announce two new members of our team at BEAR – Alexandra Wylde and Josh Eaton. Alex is a fresh graduate of design from Norwich University whose skill shone throughout her portfolio. Josh initially joined us through the D&AD Graduate Academy, and during his first three months with us, his strategic thinking was so impressive we knew we wanted to make him a permanent figure in the studio. Welcome Josh & Alex – we’re excited to have you on board.
